报告摘要:
Topological states emerge at the boundary of solids as a consequence of the nontrivial topology of the bulk. Recently, theory predicts a topological edge state on single layer transition metal dichalcogenides with 1T' structure. These phenomenon has been observed on 1T'-WTe2 and 1T'-WSe2 surface. However, it is still in the absence of the edge state of 1T'-MoTe2. Here, we have grown single layer 1T'/MoTe2 on HOPG using molecular beam epitaxy(MBE), and characterized its electronic structure with scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy (STM/STS). The existence of topological edge states at various types of steps and domain boundaries was confirmed. Otherwise, a distinct charge order modulation along b axis was observed at the energy range from -300 meV to -600 meV, which might originate from the charge density wave transition at low temperature.
